A native of Israel, Udi lived through three wars determined to create things of beauty and to promote peace. After learning his trade in Tel Aviv’s diamond industry, his fame as an original jewelry designer took off upon his arrival in New York in 1983. His jewelry collections for gay couples have been showcased in prestige stores such as Sak’s, Fortunoff’s and Macy’s, and worn by celebrities from Cindy Lauper to Angela Bassett. The events of 9/11 inspired the Love, Peace And Hope gay jewelry collection. This became a precursor to all of his exclusive creations under the Love And Pride gay jewelry brand. Same-Sex Marriage is a term for a governmentally, socially, or religiously recognized marriage in which two people of the same sex live together as a family. Israel's High Court of Justice ruled to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other countries, although it is still illegal to perform them within the country. A bill was raised in Knesset to rescind the Israeli High Court's ruling, but the Knesset has not advanced the bill since December 2006. Canada and Spain are the only countries where the legal status of same-sex marriage is exactly the same as that of opposite-sex marriage, though South Africa is due to fully harmonize its marriage laws. Other nations all have residency requirements that apply to same-sex marriage that do not apply to opposite-sex marriage.
Queer As Folk is an American and Canadian television series co-production which was based on the British series of the same name. This North American version of Queer As Folk used various Canadian directors known for their independent film work. The head writers were Ron Cowen and Daniel Lipman who were also the executive producers of the series.
